Week Five Reflection (Robotics)

This week’s question about the relationship between teaching and learning was definitely an eye opener for me. I noticed that many of us have a hard time knowing when to stop teaching. It is a very hard thing to recognize and balance. I love to learn and I try to get my students excited about learning too. It is not an easy thing to achieve. Scott gave me some good advice about observing as many teachers as possible. I was able to observe two teachers last year and I’m going to ask if I can observe two this year too. I think it will be especially helpful since I am changing grade levels this year and moving to first grade. I also liked the pyramid that Ali shared. It got me thinking about the importance of letting my students teach each other. They do not only have to learn from me. Theresa also has me thinking about how I can help my students make meaningful connections to our curriculum. I am starting to plan for next year and I’m going to make a conscious effort to find ways to connect our projects to my students.
