Week Nine Reflection (Ed Leadership)

This week was really interesting because it applied to me in several different ways. I thought a lot about my own leadership style as a teacher. I also thought about how our school is going through some really big changes, including having a new principal, assistant principal, behavioral specialist, administrative assistant, and attendance secretary. It has been a lot to deal with and we are definitely feeling the implementation dip. I thought our Twitter chat was very good this week. It really got me excited to write my blog. I love the exchange of thoughts and ideas. Ali did a great job of hosting. I thought it was really good to think about how our principals would view change and leadership in our school.

The readings and blogs this week helped me become more mindful about the leadership styles I use most often in my classroom. I posted a link to a quiz so my classmates could see what leadership styles they exhibit the most. I feel that as a teacher, I have to move from one leadership style to another quite often. It all depends on the individual needs of my students. I read that Genevieve was having some issues with her mentee and Class Dojo. I tried to offer some suggestions and I hope they will help her out. I have had three different teachers ask me if I will help them set up Class Dojo for their classroom. I’m really excited for them to use it too.
